Bougainvillea Beauties
Jan 08, 2021
Hey, plantaholics!
How are you all today? Lovely weather has graced our place, and my plants are thriving and cheerful! I went on a nursery shopping spree, and guess what I found? Lovely bougainvilleas!
Here are some pictures of my bounty:
The double varieties with such excellent colors.
And some more…
All in all, it was a day well spent!
Here are some tips to get your bougainvillea to bloom:
- Keep them in the sunniest places in your garden or house. The more sunlight they get, the more they will flower.
- Water only when it’s absolutely necessary. No dry topsoil criteria for this. Let the leaves wilt a little bit before you water next.
- They need hard pruning, as the more you cut, the more they will flower. Now, I don’t mean cut every month or so. Just remember, when you’re pruning, give a sharp cut as low as you want.
- It is also very important to fertilize in a timely manner. There are plenty of fertilizer varieties available to choose from, but make sure to check the amount of phosphorus and potassium. The percentage of nitrogen must be less than the amount of phosphorus and potassium. Another excellent fertilizer for flowering is bone meal, a source of phosphorus. If you can get your hands on a good quality bone meal, that would be the best!
I hope these tips are helpful to you in getting more flowers.
Have a wonderful day, and hope you’re enjoying your plants as much as I am!
